It is completely impossible for a product design engineer to fully understand and master the mold for mold opening. I will talk about mold opening, the mold knowledge that structural engineers need to understand. The main meaning is that if you do not understand the mold, the structural design is completed and the mold is opened. What problems will come up, let's make an outline first.
1. Mold and appearance. This involves the position of the parting line and the gate, and the parting line also involves the split line. What our product designers need to understand is that there should be no gates or parting lines on the appearance surface, except for some special structures, such as Huff molds, where the parting line is unavoidable. For example, sometimes the round body needs a gate, we can design it at the label, and then use the label to cover it.

2. Mould and processing. The success of a structural design is related to the cost and processing difficulty of the mold. For example, we need to know the difference between the slider and the inclined top, which of the structures I designed uses the slider, and which uses the inclined top. Where may the thimble be used? Will the position of the thimble affect my appearance (transparent parts)? In addition, we need to know the meaning of penetration and collision, and what are the advantages compared with sliders and inclined tops. These special terms and principles will be encountered when communicating with mold factories or molds. There are also inlays. Features of pieces and products.
3. Mold and product performance. This is very important, according to the characteristics of the product, which parts are not allowed to have parting lines or gates. To know this, the mold factory must send you the preliminary mold drawing and the gate location in ppt form for confirmation. You need to know which are important and which are not.
4. Follow and modify the model. We need to understand the mold processing procedures, as well as the general principles of mold modification, electric spark and wire cutting, etc., so that we can understand, so as not to be in the cloud when the mold is opened, how fast the mold modification I send out, and the mold The factory is also easy to change. What is the correspondence between welding and EDM in the product structure design, and why is it designed like this?
5. Moulds and materials. The materials and prices used in our molds, such as NAK80, S136, P20, etc. The basic characteristics of these mold materials, are helpful to the mold quotation and the use of product materials.
